Release v0.99

This one’s just a maintenance update. (No, I haven’t restarted development. Sorry for getting your hopes up RSS readers!)

Changes:

  • Installed some library updates. This has changed the cookie format, which means you’ll have to log in again. If you didn’t make a login at all, then I’m afraid your current game will be inaccessible. This kind of thing is why I have the 10 turn limit on playing without an account.
  • Swapped out an under performing ad network.
  • Tweaked some strangely worded passages.

    Holy crap this is still active? I had to take a second look at the version number just to be sure. I was waiting until 1.0 to play it again, but that has been taken awhile.. so I still check back every few days.

      Well, not really. I don’t have anything interesting planned in the near term, this was just me maintaining the server.

        Meh I figure it would give you more traffic maybe? Either way version 1.0 should be a special occasion. Not just for what you add, but for the accomplishment. (well not counting some jerks that just bump up the number) So kudos to you!

    Why did you stop development? Was it because of time, money, or lack of ideas? If it was for lack of time, i understand; if lack of money, i would say that the game is still feature poor, as these games go; you have to have a lot of stuff implemented to really draw a fanbase.

    If you stopped because of lack of ideas, however, please let me know; There are tons of ways you could improve on what you have, and I would be happy to provide a design doc free of charge. Things like making the battles more strategic by allowing the player to pair off beasts with invaders and with beast traits giving specific bonuses, or allowing invaders to be captured and tortured/corrupted for mana and other bonuses, merging of minions to be less preset and more procedural, etc.

    Basically, I think you have something good here, but for it to really see success, it needs a lot more features and content.

      Initially, it was the lack of a payment system available in my location with suitable Terms of Service. Currently, it’s because there’s a G-rated game I’ve committed to finishing (not under this pseudonym, naturally).

        well, if there are any good games made by a “friend” of yours you think people might find entertaining, dont be afraid to at a later date drop the name of your “friends” game so we could support your “friend”

        Why not use Patreon? (http://www.patreon.com) and take monthly donations? Plenty of other adult game developers are using it at the moment (with a lot of interest). It rewards active development which makes a whole lot more sense with this sort of thing.

        If you ever return to this project I suggest to do some, well not advertising but spread the word if you so will. Maybe think of a client version for the Kimochi client which hopefully gets somewhere as a decent platform.

        I honestly never heard of this before even though I did some decent digging. I think it got some decent potential, fetish style reminds me a lot about CoC which is probably my favorite text based game so far, but it lacks in content, depth and I guess features (although the base of what is there seems to be solid enough to expand on).

        Would be a shame if this vanishes, at least you’re still kinda active and not straight up MIA (happens way too often).

    Well I was looking forward to finished version and this update really fired up my expectation. Too bad.

    Is there any chance you release source code so someone could finish it?

      As there’s an ending to the plot, it’s essentially finished and has been for quite some time.

      Well … I’ll admit that “essentially” and “perfectly” aren’t the same thing.

      But still.

    By the way, I’d love it if you add some foot fetish content when you start working on this game again. Foot worshipping, footjobs and such.

    The game is not letting me create an account, I keep getting an Application Error.

      Fleshcult uses SendGrid to send e-mails and it seems they’re down at the moment. I’ll start looking into switching over to a backup e-mail provider, but hopefully they’ll have it fixed soon.

    suggestion: have a counter (visible to the player) for how many slaves you left on the surface / release to the surface (when swapping out slaves).
    It would be fun to keep track of that stat and it might become relevant eventually.
